This week saw East London 3rds travel down to Central Park for their Merit 6W clash.
Perhaps due to many people wanting to burn off their Turkey and Mince Pies we actually managed to have enough for some subs this week! Hallelujah!
Plus also, for what is surely a club record, the starting line up contained a set of 4 brothers. George, Chris, Danny and Tommy, aka Rawlinson RFC
After warming up in the changing room, The D’s took to the field to face a very different looking team to the one they played earlier in the season. Alas you can only play the team in front of you!
From the kick off It soon become apparent the men in red and white would again be in a mismatch of a game.
East London used some marquee players to great effect. Their pace and precision passing was spot on all afternoon.
The visitors wouldn’t have it their way all afternoon however.
The D’s fronted up well in the scrums. Pushing well and making the East London pack step back quicker than a certain Duke and Duchess.
During the first half, after a few pick and goes, the ball was shipped wide for Ollie Robbins to slip a tackle and reach over the try line for the D’s only points for the afternoon.
Despite the scoreline some great tackles and defence was put in. George Rawlinson hitting the opposition like an Iranian missile. Mark Goodenough also making some great tackles at full back.
Final score 69-5
After the game in the showers, many players made use of their Christmas Lynx Africa gift sets and the afternoon was rounded off by some jugs of beer and JD and Coke Zero’s (for those of us on a diet). Chris Thomson randomly drinking Red Stripe?.....
Thanks to everyone for putting the effort in and not giving up. Lots of debutants including Jack Ramsden who made some great runs. Well done all!
