Dagenhams 1st XV welcomed Footscray RFC to Central Park for our first preseason friendly in what was to prove a one sided scoreline but not such a one sided match
Early friendlies are all about shaking off the BBQ food and white wine spritzers and over 4 20 minute quarters look at various combinations and players
Dagenham scored plenty of tries constantly through the game yet did actually perform to their potential due mainly to ring rust and the inevitable white line fever from such games
Positives - some well worked tries and good defensive sets
Negatives - work to be done on set piece
Fair play to Footscray who gave it their all and ended the match with a consolation score.
Performances of note, lock Daniel Wren returning from injury that saw him miss the last 2 months of the season had a decent game especially in defence (need to hit the exercise bike though !)
New signings all did well with MItchell Sinfield returning to the club after 4 years away having a powerful game from number 8. Former youth product Billy Allington also playing a major part in the game and new boy Taylor Bramley who has joined us from Basildon had a steady game at Tighthead.
Next weekend sees a much sterner contest from Cheshunt RFC and with a depleted squad, especially in the front row, it should be really interesting to see how the boys perform
