Great Win for D's against local rivals Baker's

Dagenham visited local rivals May & Baker this Sunday with a point to prove after a snowy and icey encounter four weeks back left Dagenham bruised and battered after a narrow win.

This week looked like it was going the same way, Bakers looking like a much improved team took it to the visitors and Dagenham struggled to get into the game.

Bakers put on the pressure and Dagenham soon found themselves under the cosh. Bakers piled it on but insisted on going through Dagenham's pack, no way through there, they really should have spread it wide

Dagenham now wide awake having recovered from the grueling minute journey got their collective act together and things started to happen. Centre Frankie Jackson chipping through the defence with his wing man Jack Parr almost telepathically reading it to chase and score under the posts and converting also. 0-7.

Bakers got the scrum from the restart but lost control at 8 and as the ball bobbled loose flanker Eric Luzze so alert cleared up the mess to go over, again nice and central giving Parr an easy extra 2 points. 0-14.

Dagenham had their tails up now and the KO from Bakers went straight to Luzze who after offering a small prayer of thanks to the God of Rugby for the gift rampaged up the pitch laying waste to any attempted defence and really should have scored.

He either got tired or bored but finally succumbed to a desperate drag down by Bakers but not before popping up to Jackson to finish under the posts. Parr obliged again with the extra 2. 0-21

Dagenham now clearly a bit tired after all that excitement allowed the home side some breathing space and a heavily penalised Dagenham finally allowed their defences to be breached. 5-21.

The home side can be forgiven for thinking they were about to launch a comeback, Dagenham stated to get heavily penalised, Bakers were throwing everything at Dagenham's try line but all in vain Dagenham's Capitan Iulian Trifan finishing off the breakout going over under the posts with Parr again converting 5-28. Trifan's compatriot David Geanta then closed the half finishing off a well worked team effort out wide (his first for the club) bit too wide for Parr to add the 2. 5-33.

Dagenham opened the second half with another one. Trifan with a great solo effort up the middle. Very strange, appears to run very slowly but didn't get caught from halfway so appearances obviously deceptive. 5-38, Parr now up against a gentle breeze missing the conversion.

Dagenham's kicking game in general went to pot, putting your foot through a ball and it going backwards is a rare talent but could be found in abundance throughout the second half. Dagenham wisely elected to keep ball in hand and big Chris Sery charged up the middle with a carbon copy of his captain's effort moments ago 5-43. Not converted.

Bakers pulled it back to 10-43 but a great Wingers try from Darnell Daven soon restored the 38 point lead. Bakers got another but again the visitors cancelled it out, replacement centre Jack Kirby going over. 15-53.

Parr wrapped up the game with his second collecting from scrum half Oliver Evans who after a crowd pleasing run, beating five players returned to where he started! Final score 15-58.

Man of the Match Frankie Jackson, tackled everything, involved all game.
